Vibe coding with local models. Run the agent on a model on your own machine, served by Ollama or LM Studio. Free, with no limits from us.

Free, with no limits from us

Local models are free on every plan, Free included, and never count against a session or weekly limit.

Set it up

Serve a model with Ollama or LM Studio, run megabrain auth login, choose that provider and pick the model. The agent then sends its requests to the model on your machine.

Private by design

With a local model, your prompts and your code go to a model on your own computer, not to a cloud provider. You still sign in to MegaBrain once. MegaBrain does not train AI models on your code.

Switch when a task needs more

Keep a local model for everyday work and switch for the hard parts: the free models on Free, the included models on the paid plans, Claude, GPT and Gemini from Pro, or any provider through your own key.

Questions

Can I vibe code with a local model?+

Yes. Serve the model with Ollama or LM Studio and choose it in MegaBrain with megabrain auth login. It works on every plan, Free included.

Which local model is best for coding?+

The largest one your computer runs at a usable speed. An agent sends long prompts and calls tools, so a model with a long context window and tool calling does better than a small chat model. Try a few and keep the one that finishes your tasks.

Do local models count against my plan?+

No. Local models and your own API keys never count against a limit, on any plan.

Is my code private?+

The agent runs on your machine, and your code stays there: only what a request needs goes to the model you choose. MegaBrain does not train AI models on your code.

How do I start?+

Install the CLI with npm install -g @getmegabrain/cli, run megabrain in your project and sign in once. Or download MegaBrain for Mac (macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon (M1 or newer)).
